Every app you distribute on Google Play must be registered in Play Console. Apps that are still unregistered after 30 September 2026 can be removed from Google Play worldwide.

Existing Wear OS apps must target Android 14, API level 34, to stay discoverable
If your published Wear OS app targets Android 13 or older, Google Play stops showing it to users whose watches run a newer Android version than your app targets. People who already installed it are unaffected.
In force since 31 Aug 2026 for apps without an extension. Apps with one have until 1 Nov 2026.

New apps and updates must target Android 16, API level 36
Google Play will not accept a new app or an update to an existing phone or tablet app unless it is built to target Android 16. Without an approved extension, you cannot publish changes.

Apps without a need for broad contacts access must use the Android Contact Picker
From 27 January 2027, Google Play only allows apps to read a user's whole contact list when they genuinely need it. Other apps must let people pick contacts instead, or the app can be rejected.

iOS and iPadOS apps must target iOS 13 or later
Apple no longer accepts new builds of iPhone or iPad apps that still support very old iOS versions. If your app targets anything older than iOS 13, you cannot upload updates.

Google Play will not accept a new Wear OS app or an update to one unless it is built to target Android 15 or newer.

Builds must use Xcode 26 and the OS 26 SDKs
Apple only accepts app builds made with Xcode 26 or later and the matching version 26 software kits. Older builds are rejected at upload, so you cannot ship updates until you rebuild.

Answer the updated age rating questions in App Store Connect
Apple replaced its age rating system and every app owner must answer the new rating questions. Apps that have not answered them hit an interruption when submitting updates in App Store Connect.

EU apps must have verified trader status or be removed
Apps sold in the European Union must declare and verify whether you are a trader under EU law. Apps without verified trader status are taken down from the App Store in the EU until it is provided.
